Original Kids Main Cast Company members range in age from 9 to 18.

Youth aged 5-9 can participate in our Kidlets program.

Admission to the Main Cast Company is via invitation only; it is not a sign-up program. Students who wish to join the Main Cast Company can join our audition waiting list here.

Students who are invited to participate in a group audition must prepare a 1-2 minute long monologue from a play, musical, or children’s book, as well as a 1-2 minute long cut of a song from a musical or Disney movie. Both pieces must be fully memorized.

The cost for the 2024/25 season was $1375.00.

First, please don’t think that if you aren’t invited to join the company, it means you are a bad actor. There are many factors that go into inviting someone to join the Main Cast. It might be that we only have a certain number of spaces available for particular age levels at that time, or it might mean that you need a bit more practice or experience.

If you don’t make it in this time, we encourage you to try again at our next round of auditions (be sure to re-join the audition waiting list) and look for different ways to gain some more performing experience, such as going to our summer camp (Camp OK), participating in your school play or choir, or taking voice or dance lessons. Be sure to keep practicing your audition material, including working on good volume, clear diction, appropriate facial expression and gestures, and confidence / controlling of nervousness.

In the Original Kids Main Cast Company, each child participates in two projects per year, one in the fall, and one in the spring/summer. Families submit their availability for the Fall and Spring seasons separately, and the Artistic Director places them into a project accordingly.

In the fall of their first year, all new Main Cast Company members participate in T.A.G. (The Actor Grows), which is a workshop based program that runs from September to early December. In T.A.G., the kids are with us twice a week (one weekday and one weekend), learning theatre basics to help them succeed in their upcoming productions, such as mime, tableau, improvisation, audition techniques, singing, dancing, monologues, group scenes, and more. T.A.G. rehearsals are generally 1.5 hours in length. T.A.G. culminates with a final showcase, and then there is a short break until the spring/summer season starts.

In the spring/summer of their first year, new company members participate in their first Main Cast Company show; either a play or a musical. Depending on the project, they will be rehearsing 2-3 times per week (one weekday and one weekend, or two weekdays and one weekend). Show rehearsals are generally 2.5-3 hours in length. The Main Cast Company shows culminate with “show week,” which includes a tech and dress rehearsal (5-6 hours each) and a minimum of 5 performances (for example: Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday matinee and evening). Shows start rehearsing between January and April, and perform anywhere between March Break and July. Once their show week is complete, their season is complete until the following year.

In subsequent years, returning Original Kids will participate in two projects per year: one in the fall, and one in the spring/summer.
