Career Field: Law
Favourite OKTC Show: Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Current Job and Employer:
I am currently a family law lawyer at Wilson Christen LLP in 2 Toronto. To answer your question… no… being a lawyer is not quite as exciting as the television show Suits. However, I do enjoy the work. I spend most of my day talking to clients and helping them get through difficult issues in their lives. I also attend court or mediation and represent my client’s interests however necessary. It is very rewarding working with families and helping them move on to a new chapter of their lives.

What is one of your favourite Original Kids Memories?
I have so many amazing memories acting at OKTC and working at its wonderful summer camp for close to a decade. Although I will never forget the feeling of being on stage, my favourite memories all involve getting to know all the other incredible Original Kids I met over the years during rehearsals. Original Kids are very special people. It is rare to find a group of such unique people, particularly young people, who are so welcoming and friendly to one another regardless of their backgrounds. I am very grateful to Original Kids for providing me, and many other children, an outlet to be comfortable just being themselves and having fun. |
How did Original Kids impact you to where you are today?
Original Kids played a huge role in getting me where I am today. A large part of my job is advocating for my clients in a courtroom. I honestly don’t think I would have the confidence I do in front of a judge if it wasn’t for the skills I developed performing in front of audiences at a young age. It may sound funny, but after you perform songs from The Rocky Horror Picture Show in fishnet stockings in front of hundreds of people… public speaking in other forums seems that much less intimidating.

What lessons did you take from Original Kids that you feel are still applied in your daily occupation?
I learned many lessons at OKTC that I use on a daily basis. For example, I learned to take calculate risks, to work with others, to accept people for who they are and the value of hard work. Above all else, I learned the importance of preparation. As you all know, putting on a show is a ton of work. The best shows I was a part of did not necessarily have the best scripts or the most talented cast, but instead were the shows where the cast worked the hardest and were the most prepared. OKTC taught me that you can make up for a lot of faults or weaknesses you may have in life by being the most prepared and hardest working person in the room.
