LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Original Kids' ticket sales were brought in-house for the OKTC Spring 2012 season. Our Box Office team originally formed in December of 2011, spending most of January developing systems and procedures for our Box Office. Since launching our Box Office system it has evolved into a leadership development program which has grown throughout the organization incorporating our Original Kids youth into all facets of the organizations leadership and its decision making. Through this program the team has created and instilled a core set of beliefs known as our values which permeate throughout our culture.
LEADERSHIP PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To have our youth engaged in a business setting while continuing to develop an appreciation for the arts.
- To educate, coach and mentor our youth on the skills necessary to develop into effective leaders.
- To train and empower our Team Leaders to give input and coach others on our organizational values, culture and direction.
- To empower our youth to use their unique leadership styles to inspire the organization as a whole.
BOX OFFICE TEAM MEMBERS
Our Box Office Team Members are at the heart of our box office system. They are ultimately responsible for our day to day operations of the Box Office with tasks such as selling tickets, answering questions via phone, person or email, camp registrations, reconciling our cash transactions, show program development and generally keeping our administrative systems running smoothly. Our team members also go through monthly training/staff meetings to keep on top of our evolving systems.
BOX OFFICE TEAM LEADERS
We believe an organization is only as great as the leaders it develops, thus making our Team Leaders a vital piece of our organization. Our Team Leaders are responsible for staying up to date on current technologies, training and coaching current box office team members, and hiring effective new members through our hiring structure. As well, on a day to day basis they administer our box office systems, summer camp registration systems, and Kidlets registration system. From time to time they will work on the development and facilitation of training programs alongside our Executive Director. In addition, individual team leaders are trained and assigned different responsibilities including reconciliation of daily sales reports, entering data into our tracking programs, volunteer appreciation, conducting focus groups, creation and execution of patron & customer surveys, and handling any stakeholder concerns while at times helping develop and implement new systems and/or policies throughout the organization. Oh and yes, they are in high school.
TRAINING OUR TEAM LEADERS
The Original Kids youth who are hired onto our team go through an initial training program and after our team members have accumulated the necessary experience they can be selected to write our entrance exam to be included in our leadership development program. Prior to the exam the team members go through coaching sessions with current Original Kids leaders to help them get a better understanding of the program from someone close to their age who has already gone through it. During the leadership program, potential team leaders attend a series of management and leadership workshops designed to help them understand some key principals of becoming/evolving into an effective business leader. This helps them tailor their own leadership style and helps us continue to evolve as an organization. Once they have gone through this system we then begin working with them on the philosophies and strategies of Original Kids Theatre Company.
